Arthur Elgort knows how to bring out the best of his subjects, especially when he is taking pictures of active women. Known for his snapshot style, Elgort enjoys moving with his subjects as he takes his pictures. He started his career as an assistant to fashion photographer Gosta Peterson. Elgort became influenced by Peterson’s use of natural light. In the 1970s Arthur took a series of women in white bathing suits in different forms of activity. These images are quite striking and “moving”.
